Experience the mindset, strategy, and technique of our traditions through the medium of live online classes. All that is required to enroll is a sincere desire to learn, athletic clothing, and a four-foot stick.

Heihō (Strategy)
To learn strategy, you must go beyond the intellectual and apply it. You must get your hands dirty! This online course will explore strategy through the vehicle of Japanese swordsmanship. The practice of forms exemplifying a particular strategy will help you realize its essence. Then, you may apply it at will.
Join us as we explore the strategies outlined in The Way and The Power: Secrets of Japanese Strategy by F.J. Lovret. (Available through Amazon or your favorite bookstore.)
Each week during 2023, we will explore a new strategy. Participants are welcome to join at any time during the year.
What equipment do I need?
Any conservative Japanese martial arts uniform or athletic wear in good repair. While obtaining a bokken (wooden training sword) is preferable, any stick about three to four feet in length will do to begin.
Do I need previous martial arts experience?
No. We will help you through your first classes, including providing some fundamental skills on a one-on-one basis when necessary.
Will this be a formal environment?
Absolutely! Etiquette and discipline are a part of any martial tradition. However, this takes time to learn, and we will help you. There is nothing we do that does not have a purpose. Our etiquette has nothing to do with subservience: but power!
Do people feel awkward when they begin learning in this environment?
Sometimes, as when beginning any formal study, however, you will be welcomed, and this awkwardness will fade in time.
