Shōhatsutō (初発刀)

This is Shōhatsutō (初発刀), the first kata of the Gokyō within the Kihon Iaidō of Ittō Tenshin-ryū.

The Kihon Iaidō is a section of the kyōka comprising fourteen kata, many of which trace their origins to Omori-ryū and Musō Shinden-ryū, and have been preserved and adapted in accordance with the principles of our tradition.

These waza are taryū waza—techniques adopted from other traditions to support the development of the Ittō Tenshin-ryū deshi.
